Best Wedding Venues in Massachusetts

I have been shooting weddings for almost ten years but nothing compares to 2021’s wedding season! It was incredible and so busy! I personally limit the number of couples that I book per year to twelve, so that I can really focus on each couple, but I also shoot a lot of weddings as a second photographer or a lead associate photographer. So last year that meant shooting over forty weddings! So I shot at a lot of Massachusetts wedding venues! I thought it would be really helpful to share my thoughts about which ones are the best wedding venues in Massachusetts!

First let’s begin with what, to me as a photographer, makes a venue great. There are several points that I think are important. Great wedding venues need to take amazing care of their couples. There should be lots of variety on the property for portrait locations. I love venues that have bright spaces, especially if you want light, bright wedding photos! I’m obsessed with white walls, high ceilings and open shady spaces! Another thing that makes a venue great is having a variety of options in case (dun dun dunnnn)…the weather doesn’t cooperate! So I hope this info is helpful if you are on the hunt for a venue. Here are some of the best wedding venues in Massachusetts…well, my favorites, anyway!

Danversport in Danvers, MA

Let’s start with Danversport, located on the north shore in Danvers, Massachusetts. This venue took my breath away! I second shot these photos for Q Hegarty Photography. I would best describe this venue as rustic, but also so elegant! Danversport has so many options for couples! You have the option for both ceremony and reception or just reception. They can accommodate a wedding of 90 guests to a wedding of up to 650 guests! The ballroom is stunning! And sunset over the docks is beautiful! The food at Danversport was so delicious and they took great care of the couple and us vendors!

Lakeview Pavilion in Foxborough, MA

Lakeview Pavilion is a central Massachusetts hidden treasure! It is tucked away in Foxborough, and it is stunning! They have beautiful indoor and outdoor ceremony locations. And the food there is amazing! They can accommodate weddings with 80 guests up to 400 guests. Lakeview Pavilion is so chic! Every detail here is so elegant and modern. And the bridal suite here is perfection!

Grand View Ballroom in Mendon, MA

The Grand View, in the little town of Mendon, is an absolute favorite of mine. And that’s not just because it’s so close to my home, either! This beautifully redone property is the only one event venue in the area. That means that they host one event per day, so you and your guests have the place all to yourselves! It sits waterfront on Nipmuc Lake. There is a gorgeous fountain, columns, a beach area with a fire pit and a stunning fireplace in the ballroom! You can host up to 250 guests at a Grand View wedding. Briar Barn Inn in Rowley, MA

The Briar Barn Inn on the north shore is such a unique venue! It has cozy barn vibes but also has some modern elegance! This venue is definitely suited for more intimate weddings, usually 80-100 guests. The room to get ready in is so cozy with beautiful window light! And extra bonus points, this venue is a functioning inn, so guests can really enjoy the wedding and then stay the night there to sleep it off! 😉 These were shot while lead associate shooting for Q Hegarty Photography.

Misselwood Events at Endicott College in Beverly, MA

Misselwood Events is a venue I had on my bucket list and it did not disappoint! I got to second shoot there this summer for Jill Mac Photography. This venue on the north shore is right on the water! It can host weddings up to 200 guests. This couple was allowed to have the Flower Dog participate in their ceremony here! There is a beautiful tent for the reception and the views for sunset portraits are unmatched!

The Red Lion Inn in Cohasset, MA

The Red Lion Inn in Cohassett is a charming, rustic inn with coastal New England vibes! There is a 17 room guests house so some of your wedding guests (maybe you and your wedding party) can stay right on the property. The venue can accommodate up to 280 guests for your wedding! If you are dreaming of a true barn venue this is a great option! The barn itself holds ceremonies and then gets flipped during cocktail hour into a reception space with a great dance floor space! There are so many unique pockets on the property for a variety of portrait locations. That includes the lavender gardens, cool stairwells and the downstairs wine cellar and after party room!

The Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, MA

The Publick House is a beautiful historical inn located in central Massachusetts. They have several options for places on the property to hold your wedding so you can choose the spot that best fits the vibe of your day! They can accommodate weddings that are 190-220 guests! Again, this is a venue where guests can choose to stay which is so convenient! My absolute favorite thing about this property is the field down at the back of the land! It’s gorgeous! They have some rows mowed through it so couples can easily walk through the fields and the photos from that location are so dreamy! The Log Cabin in Holyoke, MA

The Log Cabin is a mountaintop venue out in western Massachusetts. There are a few different options, depending on your vision, your budget, and your guests count for ceremony and reception here. They can accommodate most guests lists, up to 450 guests! The terrace here is absolutely breath taking! And guests can enjoy the evening dancing in the reception or watching the sun set outside over Mt Tom! These were shot while second shooting for Samantha Kensell Photography.
